Last year, unintentional prescription pain medication overdoses killed more Utahns than automobile accidents.
The majority of these deaths could have been prevented by simply using medications exactly as prescribed, including: Not taking larger doses than recommended, only taking medications prescribed to you, never mixing painkillers with alcohol or other drugs, storing medications away from friends and family, and disposing of medications when no longer needed.
A society who is actively involved in the efforts to properly use, store, and dispose of prescription pain medication has a powerful influence on the safety and well-being of their community.
